Ireland destroyed Canada in 2 days, deserve a test status



Ireland prove their supremacy in the associates cricket once again as they beat Canada by an innings and 11 runs in just 2 days.

Ireland show that they are the high class materials and none of the associates match to their calibre. A comprehensive victory came in a first-class match of ICC Intercontinental Cup in Dublin. The hero of the Ireland's batting was 21 years old Paul Stirling, who scored 107 runs. Together with Wilson (61), he took the team's total to 155 for the first wicket.

That was not the end to the excellent batting performance from Irish side. Alex Cusack (81), Kevin O'Brien (79) and John Mooney (40) are other major contributors. The team finally got all out for 462 runs.
Khurram Chohan took 4 wickets while Manny Aulakh grabbed 3 for Canada.

Just like batting department, the bowling department proved to be great headache for the Canadians. Their fist innings last till 194 runs only, with only Ruvindu Gunasekera reaching to fifty. He scored 66 runs. The major damage was given by Albert Van der Merwe, who claimed 5 crucial wickets of Canadian batsmen.

After being forced to follow on, Canada got into trouble again as they lost 4 important wickets in just 66 runs. It was Merwe again, along with U19 skipper George Dockrell, who gave hard time for Canadians. Both claimed 3 wickets each. Important contribution from John Mooney (2/45) and Phil Eaglestone (2/50) forced Canada to give up at 257 runs.

With this win, Ireland top the league table followed by Afghanistan at second. Canada have lost their both matches so far and are struggling at the bottom of the table.
