Nepal showed the batting prowess to clinch victory against Oman

Unbelievable performance, extraordinary batting and disciplined bowling. Nepal embarrassed Oman and secured the second win of the tournament. Earlier, Nepal defeated UAE by 9 wickets. Both the matches so far were one-sided, in which Nepal enjoyed the complete domination over their opponent by bat and ball.

The match between Oman and Nepal was 7th in the tournament. Nepal won the toss and despite strong breeze blowing in the Terdthai cricket ground, they decided to bat first. The breeze should have helped the seamers to create swings and bounces.

The opener duo Sagar Khakurel and Failzur Khan batted cautiously. Failzur played some big shot in regular intervals to build up the respected 1st wicket partnership. The partnership was finally broken with the departure of Khakurel, who was judged LBW to Miruyu Wickremaratne at 27 off 55 balls. This wicket could bring no moment of relief for Omanis as Failzur Khan, man-of-match of the 1st match against UAE, continued playing well together with Sagar Pun. Failzur Khan, who made 46* against UAE went past that run and scored his half century. Khan and Pun contributed 110 for the second wicket partnership, which was broken by Chirag Asher. He trapped Failzur Khan LBW at the team score of 191, not before Falzur crossed the well deserve century. He scored 101 off 99 balls with 10 fours.

Pradeep Airee, the next batsman, was in different mood as he started to punish Oman bowlers all around the ground. He accelerated Nepal's run rate with his fierce batting and was well supported by Sagar Pun. Sagar Pun made 83 runs off 80 balls with 4 fours, while Pradeep Airee scored 86 runs off only 40 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. The partnership totalled 127 runs. Nepal piled a huge score of 391 runs, Naresh Budhayer and Prithu Baskota being not out at the score of 37 and 20 respectively.

The score of 391 was indeed an unachievable target, but everyone was expecting strong resistant from Oman.    But, Omanis batsmen gave up quickly as they started to fall off Nepalese bowlers one by one. The opener Mohool Mishra fought bravely and made 30 runs before being bowled out off captain Prithu Baskota. The pick of the bowlers were spinner Rahul BK and seamer Avinash Karn, who got 3 wickets and 2 wickets respectively. Oman was all out for only 87 runs. Nepal won the match with massive 304 runs.

UAE and Oman were both strong opponents, and victory against them must have boosted the morale of Nepal young lads, who will be facing the favourite Afghanistan in the next match.
