U.A.E, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong ensure win in the opening day of WCL Division 2

Moral boosting victory for Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong and U.A.E. in the opening day of World Cricket League (WCL) Division 2 yesterday!! Hong Kong romped to victory defeating Uganda by 26 runs (scorecard). Papua New Guinea had an easy match against Bermuda, the team that had already been featured in the World Cup 2007 (scorecard). U.A.E. and Namibia fought in a closed match (scorecard), and the victory of 1 wicket suggest that U.A.E. had to face tough challenge to get over that small target of 177.

World Cricket League Division 2 features 6 teams, and the top 4 will qualify for the next round (it was actually the ICC world cup qualifier for 2015 world cup, but as ICC had already decided to feature only 10 teams in it, I doubt WCL tournaments have any meaning left now). The bottom 2 teams will relegate to Divison 3.

Promotion to Division 1 is still important for the teams in Division 2 because that will then give them opportunity to play against top associates like Ireland, the Netherlands, Scotland, Canada, Kenya and Afghanistan.
