Sanath Jayasuriya ready for final show

A stage is all set to give a warm farewell to Sanath Jayasuriya that he truly deserves. That is probably the reason why he is selected for the upcoming T20 and ODI matches in England. Jayasuriya has confirmed that he will be saying goodbye to International cricket after the first ODI match against England. Before that, he will also appear in an only T20 match of the tour. We hope Sanath Jayasuriya will reproduce the blazing performance that he has been known for all these 20 years. It would be a memorable end to his career if he can take his team to victory.

Sanath Jayasuriya has played multiple innings of world class quality in his 110 test matches. He was especially dominant against India, against which he scored 938 runs in 10 matches with the highest score of 340, which is also his career best. His overall test runs are 6973 at an average of 40.07. He made 14 centuries and 31 fiftees in test cricket.

Jayasuriya is only second batsman to appear in 400+ ODI matches. Indian star batsman Sachin Tendulkar is definitely at the top again in this case with 453 ODI matches, while Sanath Jayasuriya's ODI matches count is 444. Jayasuriya has scored 13428 runs at an average of 32.43 and has made 28 centuries and 68 half centuries. His highest score of 189 once again came against India.

Jayasuriya also proved to be a very useful allrounder for his team, as he could bowl long spells and also managed to take wickets consistently. During his test career, he claimed 98 wickets at an average of 34.34 and took 5 wickets in one inning in two occasions. He was especially effective in ODIs, where he was more dangerous to his opponent batsmen. He has 322 ODI wickets in his name and have taken 5 wickets in four occasions.

Sanath Jayasuriya will soon join the list of great cricketers who have hung their gloves recently. It is certainly very emotional moments for all cricket lovers, but good news is that he has decided to play in league cricket and domestic cricket for some more times. It means we can still see him hitting sixes with his square cuts in coming days.
